CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support

The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and people’s homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and well-being. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to, may contribute to an individualised plan and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

Through this course, students are able to advance their industry skills and contribute positively to disability and aged care sectors.

  • Core Units:

    1. CHCCCS044 Follow established person-centred behaviour supports

    2. CHCDIS017 Facilitate community participation and social inclusion

    3. CHCDIS018 Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centered approach

    4. CHCDIS019 Provide person-centered services to people with disability with complex needs

    5. CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance

    6. CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues

    7. HLTWHS003 Maintain work health and safety

    Elective Units:

    1. BSBLDR413 Lead effective workplace relationships

    2. CHCPAL003 Deliver care services using a palliative approach

    3. HLTAAP002 Confirm physical health status

    4. HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication

    This course has been designed by industry experts, offering electives that best align with current industry relevance.

  • Completion of:

    1. CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or

    2. CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or

    3. CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS CHCSS0015 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set'

    4. At least 12 months experience working in disability support

    5. A letter of support from current employer for enrolment into this qualification 

    • Face-to-face, 1 day on campus per week and self-study required
