Manual Handling
Manual Handling discusses the appropriate way to perform tasks, the risks associated and how to reduce workplace injury. Manual handling is the act of lifting, lowering or carrying an object or person. In this course, students are taught how to perform manual handling, including the use of workplace equipment and reporting procedures as risks arise. Upon completion of Manual Handling, students have the ability to perform tasks safely, productively and comfortably with a reduced risk of injury.

Understanding the role and importance of documentation and record-keeping

Transfer with a hoist
Transfer without a hoist
One person transfer out of a chair
Two person transfer out of a chair
One person transfer out of a simulated care
Use of a wheelchair
Students must complete all practicals to pass the course
