About Course

Dementia Care aims to treat the rising demand for support workers treating dementia patients. Through this course, students gain comprehensive understanding as to the types of dementia, general brain function, detecting warning signs and ways to support people living with dementia.

    • Understanding normal brain physiology and function

    • Developing knowledge on the warning signs and early symptoms of dementia

    • Gaining knowledge on how dementia affects thinking and behaviour including coping with behavioural changes in dementia including hoarding, repetitive behaviour and aggression

    • Develop knowledge of the different types of dementia including rare inherited forms and genetics

    • Developing an understanding of how to assist clients living with dementia with everyday activities

    • Developing an understanding of the risk factors behind Dementia

    • Understanding Palliative Care in Dementia  

  • No compulsory practicals required.


Delivery Mode

This course is delivered face-to-face and no self-study is required.
