Intermittent Catheter Care
Intermittent Catheter Care employs the teaching of the urinary tract, in relation to clean intermittent catheterisation. In this course, students will gain understanding in the causes and symptoms of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), how to perform the procedure as a healthcare worker, such as, the risks involved. Anyone working with catheters is strongly encouraged to undertake this course.

Basic knowledge of bladder anatomy and physiology as it relates to an intermittent urinary catheter
Recognising Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) symptoms, causes and following treatment plans
Developing knowledge of residual urine levels pre and post-void
Acquiring practical knowledge of how to perform intermittent catheterisation
Understanding the risks associated with this procedure and devices
Understanding health in relation to intermittent catheter care
Standard practice of infection prevention and control
